la caseta el viajero

if you ever happen to be looking for travel guidebooks in lima, drop by federicos newspaper stand at plaza san martin. well, it looks like a newspaper stand, you know, it is a small green cabin, but federico offers about everything from maps of switzerland (the oldest from about 1970!) to diccionaries in japanese all on a cramed two square meters.

when he passed at federico's on his way to bolivia a month ago daruman purchased a lonley planet from 2001 for that country. but now with his backpack filled with good stuff for home he was eager to get rid of some weight and resold it together with some other books which had lost their usefullness (guidebook of peru/bolivia in german, german/spanish vocabulary trainer, undestroyable map of bolivia). for this heap of crap daruman would not get much out of federico, who is quite a tough businessman. what he gained was the feeling of contribution to the dream of a nearly 60 years old man to finally see europe in real and not only on nice pictures in guidebooks...

tonight daruman continues to piura and tomorrow he is scheduled to finally return to ecuador!
